6:00 Vernissage of one-evening exhibition by the Kids Art Club.
During four weekend workshops spanning one semester, a group of future adults collaborate with artists and are introduced to artistic strategies and methods. Started in the spring of 2018, Mobilizing Citizenship seeks to explore what collaboration can mean in the context of future adults working with professional artists and designers within an art institution.
The participants are given access to tools and methods aimed at building ownership of one's own surroundings, with a focus on how future adults can use artistic strategies to speak up and out. This semester we have focused on challenging visual norms and conceptions of beauty. The future adults have worked with Benedetta Crippa (SWE), Toxic Waste Face (US), Jennie Bringaker (NO) and Lee Heinemann (US).
Mobilizing Citizenship is supported by Arts Council Norway and Nordic Culture Point.
THE KIDS ART CLUB
The Kids Art Club at Kunsthall Stavanger is a monthly art club where we explore different artistic methods with artists. We have two groups: 6-10 years old and 11-15 years old. They all get the chance to meet professional artists and make a art projects together. The club is run by our art educator, Hege Hervik.
This fall the participants have worked with Espen Birkedal, Marte Eknæs, Mari Kolbeinson and Nils-Thomas Økland. The exhibition is curated by Ingvild Melberg Eikeland.
The Kids Art Club is generously supported by Stavanger kommune.
