Stine Janvin

The Stavanger-born and based vocalist, performer and sound artist Stine Janvin will create a voice-centered work as a special commission to coincide with the launch of Kunsthall Stavanger's new digital platform.

In her work, Janvin explores the extensive flexibility of her voice, and the ways in which it can be used to channel physicalities of sound. Often inspired by electronic music, folk music, and popular culture, she creates site-specific audiovisual works for variable spaces such as theaters, clubs, galleries, and—more recently—digital platforms.

For this special commission, Janvin will build a work that continues to grow with user interaction, inspired by the mantra “every voice counts”. The work will take place throughout Kunsthall Stavanger's digital platform, and a version of the work will be presented in a physical performance at Kunsthall Stavanger.

Stine Janvin (b. 1985 in Stavanger, Norway). Recent presentations include Performa Telethon, New York; Munch Live and CADS, Oslo; Deutschlandradio Kultur, Daadgalerie and CTM Festival, Berlin; Kunsthall Stavanger, Stavanger; Rokolective, Bucharest; Wiener Festwochen, Vienna; Issue Project Room, New York; INA GRM, Paris.
