One Sunday a month, Kunsthall Stavanger facilitates a meaningful interaction with contemporary art. Here, the children explore Norwegian and international art, and produce their own works in collaboration with professional artists in four different workshops. At the end of the semester we make an exhibition, which will be open to family and friends.
The theme of this semester's Kids’ Art Club is humor: How is humor used in contemporary art today? What can we create with humor? What is the function and role of humor in art? And can jokes be art?
This semester Kunsthall Stavanger has initiated a new project together with guest curator Kristina Ketola Bore called Mobilizing Citizenship. The art mediation project is aimed at young people aged 12-16 with no prior exposure to art mediation or formal art education. During the semester, the youth will meet and collaborate with six different artists and be introduced to artistic strategies and methods in a workshop format. One of the main goals is that the participants will build a sense of ownership over their surroundings and see themselves as autonomous agents with the possibility to partake in public discourse.
