Kunsthall Stavanger Announces a Special Commission by Stine Janvin
Kunsthall Stavanger is proud to announce a special commission in 2021 by the vocalist, composer and artist Stine Janvin. The commission will take place in the fall of 2021.
Stine Janvin is a vocalist, composer and artist with an interdisciplinary practice based in Stavanger and Berlin. Her main interest is the voice as a key element in the exploration of sound as a physical phenomenon and physical perception in the form of conscious and / or unconscious audience participation. Through projects developed for theaters, digital media, nightclubs and art galleries, she explores performing and performance formats often dealing with dualities between the sentimental / pragmatic, natural / artificial, organic / synthetic and the minimal / dramatic.
Janvin's most recent presentations of works are In Memoriam for Spikersuppa Lydgalleri 2021, Chords for Calling for Deutschlandradio Kultur 2021, Always With You for MUNCH and Performa NY 2020, Beautiful People for Kunsthall Stavanger 2020 and SOLD (a dog and pony show) for Borealis Festival 2020. As a collaborator Janvin works with artists such as Ula Sickle, Cara Tolmie, Adam Linder, Felicity Mangan and Holly Herndon. Her music is released by PAN, Pica Disk, +3db, Shelter Press and Entr'Acte.
Stine Janvin is a fellow in residence at the Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD in 2020/2021.
