This run of workshops will be taught in English.

Musician, vocalist, keyboardist, drummer, and songwriter Busy Gagnes takes you through writing and recording music on your iPad or iPhone using Garage Band this November!

This workshop is open to everyone (ages 13-26) whether or not you have previous experience making music or knowledge of music theory. We will practice song-writing techniques and produce a song from start to finish. Working individually or in small groups you will develop beats and melodies using various instruments - drums, guitar, bass, synthesizers, effects, and vocals. The workshop will end with a final listening party at the Kunsthall where family and friends are invited.

This workshop is Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th of November. On the first day we will make a "cover" version of a song, familiarize ourselves with Garage Band, and explore the possibilities of instrumentation in the program. We will then focus on writing an original song, lay out the song structure, and begin to write lyrics/vocals. From there we will develop the song by adding layers/textures and trying different instrumentations.

The second day will be more individualized based on personal taste, whether you want to focus on recording vocals, another live instrument, or learn how to polish the sounds with mixing techniques and sound effects. We will also make artwork for the songs and upload them to online music sharing platforms. The last hour of the workshop will be a listening party at the Kunsthall - you can invite your family and friends!
