Hanne Lippard and Bendik Giske

A performative dialogue

performance

In conjunction with the exhibition Hanne Lippard - Ulyd, we present a special performance with Hanne Lippard and Bendik Giske. In this performative dialogue, Lippard and Giske linger between the lines of linguistic content and abstract melody.

Bendik Giske (Smalltown Supersound) is a saxophonist and composer whose work explores the tension between the performative and corporeal boundaries of the instrument and his body. Fusing extended techniques with elements that draw from electronic music, his work traverses genre. His collaborations include music for dance, performance - and visual art as well as installations. His work has recently been commissioned by Lafayette Anticipations and he has performed at clubs, festivals and art institutions including Berghain, Art Basel, MoMA PS1, New Museum in New York, ICA and Frieze in London, Berlin Biennale, Øya Festivalen and the Oslo Opera.

Hanne Lippard’s practice explores the voice as a medium. Her education in graphic design informs how language can be visually powerful; her texts are visual, rhythmic, and performative rather than purely informative, and her work is conveyed through a variety of disciplines, which include short films, sound pieces, installations and performance.
