As part of our educational project Mobilizing Citizenship, Kunsthall Stavanger invites you to an evening with new music and performance from youth participants and visiting artists and mentors from Goldsmiths Alchemy, London.

This will be a showcase of creative work that has emerged from a week of workshops at Kunsthall Stavanger delivered by a team of artists and mentors from Goldsmiths Alchemy. 'Are you listening?' has been the theme for the week, inviting young artists to listen more deeply to themselves, each other and their environment, using what they discover as raw material for creating and performing new music with a range of tools such as their voices, electronic music production, poetry and spoken word, field recordings, as well as traditional instruments. Expect to hear powerful sounds and new challenging sonic ideas from the important voices of the young people of Stavanger.

Goldsmiths Alchemy (founded at Goldsmiths University in 2017) explores how the act of listening and music-making itself can be used as the basis for an anti-oppressive pedagogy, an inclusive archeology for learning, creating and growing together as a community.

Mobilizing Citizenship (MC) is an educational and research project where Norwegian and international artists and designers are invited to work with a small group of youth at Kunsthall Stavanger during one semester.
