At the last Art Club of the season, we invite family and friends to join us for an exhibition, where we will show them what we have done and made this spring. The kids arrive at 4pm, the exhibition opens at 6 pm.
We will work together with artists Mari Kolbeinson and Markus Bråten on curating the exhibition.
Mari Kolbeinson (b. 1989) is a visual artist who lives and works in Stavanger. Her work revolves around the painting, focusing on its structural components and how these can unfold in the three-dimensional space. This she explores through installation, sculpture and partially performative works. Kolbeinson graduated with a Master's degree from Bergen Academy of Art and Design in 2015. Since then she has exhibited projects in Stavanger Kunstmuseum, Kunsthall Stavanger, Hi10, Studio17, Vestlandsutstillingen and Castor Gallery, London. Kolbeinson is the former deputy chairman of NBK-R (formerly BKFR) and is one of the initiators of the collaborative project Skaus together with artists Håvard Sagen and Markus Bråten. Skaus has previously carried out projects at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (New York), Oslo Architecture Triennale: Mission Neighborhood, Rogaland Arts Center and at TOU. http://marikolbeinson.com, https://skaus.site
Markus Bråten (b. 1990) is a visual artist who lives and works in Stavanger. In his artistic practice, he is concerned with the physical location of the imagination in the world. He treats this theme through artistic processes that recognize the place as the most important guide. His works involve a variety of materials and media, such as sculpture, video installation and painting/drawing. Bråten took his MFA at Konstögskolan in Malmö and Maumaus Escola de Artes Visuais, in Portugal between 2011 and 2016. Since then, he has exhibited at OBRA in Malmö, Atelier Concorde in Lisbon, Werthalle in Cologne and Stasjon K in Norway, among others. In 2016, he was awarded Edstranska Stiftelsen's scholarship and nominated for Fredrik Roos' scholarship, both in Sweden. Since 2019, he has run the collaborative project Skaus together with the artists Mari Kolbeinson and Håvard Sagen. Skaus is a nomadic art project and exhibition platform. Skaus has previously carried out projects at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (New York), Oslo Architecture Triennale: Mission Neighborhood, Rogaland Arts Center and the waiting area at TOU. https://markusbraten.com/ https://skaus.site/
