«Funded by The Heinz Endowment for the Art's Creative Heights residency program,Problem Solvers is Paper Rad's ideal Saturday morning cartoon. The episode adheres to the parameters of a children's TV program—in structure (half-hour format with space for commercial breaks), method (an "economic approach to animation and script writing") and content (a story arc anchored by a "post-hippy new-age message"). While emulative of a classic formula, the cartoon is strangely fresh; earnest and untainted by adult-flavored parody, Problem Solvers exemplifies Paper Rad's post-ironic art.
Paper Rad's members were Benjamin Jones, Jessica Ciocci, and Jacob Ciocci. They began making projects together in 2000. Paper Rad has performed and exhibited at MoMA, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Tate Britain; the New York Underground Film Festival; the Boston Underground Film Festival; Foxy Productions, Brooklyn, NY; the Big Orbit Sound Lab, Buffalo, NY; Space 1026, Philadelphia, PA; and the Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, among other venues.»
