The videowork Beautiful People (2020) is an excerpt from the performance SOLD (a dog and pony show).
Stine Janvin has made a visual presentation and a composition consisting of five voices, all performed by Janvin. The work is a specially commissioned work for Kunsthall Stavanger's website as part of the project #fromKStoyou. Costume design is by Ramona Salo and computer graphics by Erik Ferguson.
Even though our doors are closed, we are bringing you art through our digital channels, and also through banner art on our building. On our website, we are showing video works that can hopefully ground and inspire, and bring joy and calmness at this moment in time.
Stine Janvin (NO/DE) is a vocalist and sound artist based in Stavanger and Berlin, whose work combines vocal techniques with digital manipulation, stretching the boundaries of voice. Janvin has performed her work in different art and music settings – clubs, galleries and theatres – shifting between spaces and contexts. Investigating dualities between human and non-human production of experimental sound, Janvin uses her own voice as foundation for her performance pieces.
Her latest work SOLD (a dog and pony show) was premiered as a 1 hour stage piece on March 8th 2020 at the experimental music festival Borealis in Bergen. Due to the current global crisis, the work continues to develop in digital formats, nevertheless dealing with the artists own double standards and guilty pleasures connected to personal branding, online presence and identity.
