On April 28, the children from the Art Club will work with artist Camilla Løken Hill.
During the Spring semester 2024 we ask: How can we connect with the natural environment? How can we build a relationship with the natural environment? If we listen very well, what does our environment sound like, smell like, feel like? The environment can be your garden, the birds in the trees, the forest near the school, the city where you live or the whole world. This semester we will use all of our senses to explore our environment in new ways.
ABOUT THE ART CLUB
The Art Club introduces children to contemporary art in a fun and accessible way. Here, we explore what contemporary art is, and what kind of experiences and tools we can bring from art into our everyday lives.
The children will meet and work with professional artists, and get to explore our exhibitions together with our skilled educators. At the end of each semester we organise an exhibition for family and friends.
Camilla Løken Hill (b.1975) graduated in 2016 from the Oslo Academy of the Arts, specializing in metal and jewelry art. Since 2017, she has lived and worked in the Stavanger region. In 2019, she helped found the artist-run exhibition space Salongen in the center of Stavanger. Hill draws inspiration for her works from nature, dreams and mystery, together with an interest in how life originated and what happens when we die, both on a physical and spiritual level. She has developed her own technique where she weaves with metal thread, mainly in brass and copper. The defining feature of her works is that they are often made up of several smaller objects assembled into larger sculptural installations. In her artistic practice, she often focuses on the overall universal, something that everyone can identify with, regardless of age, ethnicity or gender identity.
