REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 28
ABOUT THE ART CLUB
The Art Club introduces children to contemporary art in a fun and accessible way. Here, we explore what contemporary art is, and what kind of experiences and tools we can bring from art into our everyday lives.
The children will meet and work with professional artists, and get to explore our exhibitions together with our skilled educators. At the end of each semester we organise an exhibition for family and friends.
During the Spring semester 2024 we ask: How can we connect with the natural environment? How can we build a relationship with the natural environment? If we listen very well, what does our environment sound like, smell like, feel like? The environment can be your garden, the birds in the trees, the forest near the school, the city where you live or the whole world

Kari Ann Lending Kleiveland (b.1993) is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in dance, choreography and visual art. She completed her Master's degree in art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen (KMD) in 2022, and her Bachelor's degree in art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim (2020). She was based at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki in the autumn of 2018 and at the Academy of the Arts in Reykjavik in the spring of 2019. In June 2018, she founded Studio K, a project and exhibition space for contemporary art (www.studiokprosjektrom.com). In 2022, she became a board member of PAS (Performance Art Stavanger), aiming to promote performance art in the region. She is engaged as coordinator for the exhibition program at Fotland Mølle in Time Municipality. Kari Ann Lending Kleiveland is passionate about creating meeting points between different people and practices, and challenging the overlaps and differences between artistic disciplines. She wants to help promote exciting and varied art practices at the same time as she develops her own.
Victoria Heggelund is a dancer and choreographer based in Stavanger. She has a bachelor's degree in contemporary dance from the University of Stavanger, and also designs clothes/costumes for dance/performance projects.
Khaled Habeeb is an oud soloist who has been guest musician with both TSO and SSO, and has performed at many festivals around Norway. He has been involved in a number of projects, including with the Rennesøy School Choir and the Trallbarnas songbook app.
Camilla Løken Hill (b.1975) graduated in 2016 from the Oslo Academy of the Arts, specializing in metal and jewelry art. Since 2017, she has lived and worked in the Stavanger region. In 2019, she helped found the artist-run exhibition space Salongen in the center of Stavanger. Hill draws inspiration for her works from nature, dreams and mystery, together with an interest in how life originated and what happens when we die, both on a physical and spiritual level. She has developed her own technique where she weaves with metal thread, mainly in brass and copper. The defining feature of her works is that they are often made up of several smaller objects assembled into larger sculptural installations. In her artistic practice, she often focuses on the overall universal, something that everyone can identify with, regardless of age, ethnicity or gender identity.
Margrethe Aanestad (b. 1974 in Stavanger, Norway) lives and works between New York City and Stavanger. In her practice she mainly works with drawing, painting and sculpture in mixed media. Aanestad studied Fine Arts at the Rogaland Art College, Norway and holds a BA in Art & Cultural studies from the University of Stavanger.
Aanestad has exhibited internationally. Recent projects includes Sandefjord kunstforening, Norway; Scandinavia House, New York; Dimensions Variable, Miami and Yi Gallery, New York. Solo exhibitions include Utstein Monastery/Stavanger Museum, Kunsthall Stavanger; Torrance Shipman, New York; Dimensions Variable, Miami; Open Source Gallery, New York. Aanestad has over the years participated in several group- and duo shows in New York City, NY, Miami, Oakland, Costa Rica, Copenhagen and UK, in addition to multiple art institutions in her native Norway. Residencies include Residency Unlimited, NYC and Artists Alliance Inc., NYC. Upcoming projects includes solo exhibition at Yi gallery, New York, opening Sep 2024.
Aanestad’s works are included in private collections worldwide. She has completed several private and public commissions both in Norway and USA, including the New University Hospital in Stavanger (SUS) for KORO (2024). Aanestad co-founded the artist-run gallery Prosjektrom Normanns in Stavanger in 2011, which she co-directed until its closing in 2020.
