Kunsthall Stavanger has been exploring new formats on the forefront of exhibition-making in the digital age since 2013. The kunsthall's grand opening in 2013 took place online, with the launch of a new website with digital projects by Frances Stark, Micaela Durand, Tara Sinn, and White Zinfandel, before the kunsthall opened its door half a year later.
We have a special focus on artists working with digital art and new technologies, including exhibitions by Peggy Ahwesh, Wong Ping, Bárbara Wagner & Benjamin de Burca, Takeshi Murata, Michael Bell-Smith, and Alex Bag. In 2020, we collaborated with Rhizome.org on 7x7, where seven artists and seven technologists are asked to collaborate and make something new. During COVID-19, we curated a series of online videos that were exhibited on our website.
Our new website and digital platform, launched in September 2022, will be home to forthcoming art projects, curated exhibitions, and educational programs. The digital platform was made possible by generous grants from Arts Council Norway and Rogaland County Municipality.
